Call for Papers: Special Issue on Community Systems for Health in Latin America

We are pleased to announce a forthcoming special issue from the Journal of Community Systems for Health, dedicated to exploring the vibrant and diverse community systems for health across Latin America. This special issue aims to showcase cutting-edge research, innovative practices, and insightful theories that highlight the roles and impacts of community health systems in improving health outcomes and equity in the region.

 Theme of the Special Issue:

Community-based health initiatives are crucial for addressing the unique health challenges faced by various populations in Latin America. This special issue seeks to illuminate how community systems contribute to improved health at local and regional levels, including their integration with national health policies and international health frameworks.

 

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Traditional and indigenous approaches to health and wellness.
  • Community engagement and empowerment in health system governance.
  • Innovative community-based interventions for disease prevention and management.
  • The role of community health workers in enhancing healthcare delivery.
  • Evaluations of community health programs’ impact on health equity.
  • Collaborative models between community systems and formal healthcare institutions.
  • Policy and regulatory environments supporting community health systems.

 Submission Guidelines:

We invite original research articles, review articles, study protocols, lessons and experiences from the field and short communications that provide insightful contributions to the topic. Manuscripts should adhere to the journal’s submission guidelines, available on our website. Both manuscripts in Spanish and English are accepted.

 Important Dates:

  • Call for Papers Announcement: November 1, 2025
  • Manuscript Submission Deadline: April 30, 2026
  • Publication Date: June 2026

 Submission Process:

Please submit your manuscript through the journal’s online submission system. During submission, indicate clearly in the cover letter that your submission is intended for the special issue on Community Systems for Health in Latin America. Articles will be published on a rolling basis, once they are ready.

We look forward to your contributions and to advancing our understanding of the critical role that community systems play in shaping health landscapes across Latin America.
